Keeping Glass in Top Condition: A Guide

Hello! My name is Vince. Last year, I learnt a very important lesson - if you do not look after the glass in your home, it will not look after you. You see, I hadn't really inspected, cleaned or carried out any maintenance work on the glass windows and doors in my home. One day, during a storm, the glass in one of my windows shattered. I didn't know what to do. When I called in a glass contractor, he said that the glass had failed due to a hairline crack. He replaced the other pieces of glass in my home and gave me some advice about glass care.

If privacy is a top priority for you, here are three methods you can use to frost your glass front door. Read More

Types Of Glass Used In Showers

Sleek glass showers open up a bathroom, giving a spacious impression. These beautiful enclosures use several different types of glazing. Some are mandatory, while others are more decorative.  Toughened Glass Frameless showers use toughened glass, which is five times stronger than ordinary glass. Building regulations mandate this glazing for safety reasons. As well as being extra sturdy, if it breaks, it crumbles into numerous pebble-like pieces rather than dangerous pointy shards. Different Glass Options For Your Bi-Fold Aluminium Doors

Aluminium provides a slim profile for glass panelled bi-fold doors to create an elegant look. As far as the glass panels go, you have several glazing possibilities. Here are some standard options. Laminated Glass Laminated glass brings security and also other practical benefits that make a home more comfortable. It has a middle resin interlayer with a glued glass pane on either side to form a multi-layer glass sandwich. This creates a secure barrier as the interlayer typically holds the glass together if it breaks; while it might crack, the panel remains in place until help arrives. Read More
